New Delhi: The government has finally agreed to the opposition’s demand for a discussion on electoral reforms and the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram.
At a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC), chaired by the Lok Sabha Speaker, it was decided that the Lok Sabha will hold a debate on electoral reforms, including the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), a committee member said.
The discussion on electoral reforms is scheduled for December 9 and 10. On December 8, the Lok Sabha will take up the debate on Vande Mataram, during which the Prime Minister is expected to reply at the conclusion of the discussion.
Both Houses of Parliament had previously witnessed adjournments over disagreements concerning the discussion on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
