The General Body Meeting of All India Unani Tibbi Congress Delhi State was held at Ghalib Academy, Basti Hazrat Nizamuddin, under the chairmanship of Prof. Muhammad Idris. In his address, he emphasized the need to fully utilize schemes offered by the central and state governments. Office bearers from the Youth Wing, Academic Wing, Pharmacy Wing, and Technical Wing participated in the meeting and shared their views on promoting Unani medicine.
The meeting expressed concern over the closure of a key platform that showcased AYUSH literature, calling it a significant loss for knowledge dissemination. Participants also strongly urged concrete steps for establishing the proposed Unani Medical College at Jamia Millia Islamia. It is noteworthy that on March 17, 2023, during an event organized by the Congress, the then Vice-Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar had announced the establishment of Hakim Luqman Unani Medical College and had initiated groundwork. However, following her retirement, the project stalled. The meeting expressed hope that the current administration would revive and advance the initiative.
On the occasion, Secretary General Dr. Syed Ahmad Khan appealed to Unani practitioners to strengthen the organization and promote its movement at the national level with a positive outlook. He highlighted that the ideals and vision of Masih-ul-Mulk Hakim Ajmal Khan remain equally beneficial for national progress and Unani medicine, and called for further development of institutions founded by him, including the establishment of a museum in his memory at Tibbiya College, New Delhi.
Dr. Shahid Shah Chaudhary, National General Secretary of the Academic Wing, stressed the need to raise pharmaceutical standards, while Hakim Arbabuddin, National President of the Pharmacy Wing, emphasized expanding medicine supply chains and sales counters. Hakim Hafiz Uzair Bakhai, General Secretary of the Pharmacy Wing, underscored the importance of continuous knowledge upgradation and announced that the wing would organize training initiatives.
Several experts and practitioners, including Dr. Zakiuddin, also shared their views on strengthening research, institutional development, and the wider promotion of Unani medicine. The meeting witnessed active participation from a large number of doctors, hakims, and journalists, reflecting growing engagement in the sector.
Dr. Shakeel Ahmad Meerthi, President of the Delhi State unit, concluded the session by thanking all attendees and reiterating the need for collective efforts to take Unani medicine to greater heights.
