India and Germany have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in cutting-edge technologies, with Union Minister for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh holding talks with Mario Voigt, Minister-President of Germany’s Thuringia, in New Delhi on Tuesday.

The discussions focused on expanding collaboration in emerging sectors such as quantum communication, photonics and industry-driven deep-tech innovation, reflecting the growing strategic importance of science and technology in India-Germany relations.

During the meeting, Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted India’s rapidly expanding innovation landscape, noting that the country now hosts the world’s third-largest startup ecosystem. He said India offers vast opportunities for international partnerships across a range of high-growth sectors, including biotechnology, healthcare, water technologies, artificial intelligence and space technology.

Emphasizing the strength of bilateral ties, the minister said India and Germany share a longstanding partnership built on scientific cooperation, technological innovation and strong people-to-people connections. He described science and technology as one of the most dynamic pillars of the relationship, helping both countries unlock new opportunities in advanced research, industrial development and innovation-led growth.

The talks also underscored the increasing role of industry-academia collaboration in driving next-generation technologies and fostering deep-tech ecosystems capable of addressing global challenges.

With both nations seeking to accelerate innovation in frontier technologies, the meeting is expected to pave the way for enhanced research partnerships, technology transfer initiatives and greater engagement between startups, research institutions and industry leaders from India and Germany.
