The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has informed that the progress of area coverage under Kharif Crops has recorded more than 1000 lakh hectare area as of 14th of this month. It added that the rice has been grown over more than 379 lakh hectare area, while Oilseeds was sown over more than 184 lakh hectare area. According to the Ministry, Shri Anna cum Coarse cereals were cultivated in over 172 lakh hectare area. It added that more than 107 lakh hectare area was covered with Cotton. Additionally, the area cultivated with Pulses was recorded with area coverage of more than 108 lakh hectares. The Ministry informed that Sugarcane was grown on more than 58 lakh hectare areas, while Jute and Mesta cover more than 6 lakh hectare areas.
