
The unincorporated establishments in the non-agriculture sector continued their growth momentum in the first quarter of this financial year. Despite global uncertainties, the sector grew 9.2 per cent year-on-year for the April to June quarter, according to the Quarterly Bulletin of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises (QBUSE) released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation today.
The estimated number of establishments increased to 8.67 crore in this period. Employment in the unincorporated non-agricultural sector reached 13.70 crore, with the other services sector emerging as a key driver, recording employment growth of more than 21 per cent. This was followed by the manufacturing sector, which registered growth of 10.06 per cent in the estimated number of establishments and 6.60 per cent in the estimated workforce.
However, the unincorporated trade sector recorded a year-on-year decline of 7.88 per cent in the estimated number of establishments and 10.29 per cent in the estimated workforce.
The urban sector outperformed the rural sector in employment growth, registering a year-on-year growth of over 12 per cent, compared with 0.70 per cent growth in rural sector. The report further highlighted that women accounting for more than 30 per cent of total employment in the sector.
