The government has said that adequate stocks of petrol and diesel are available at all petrol pumps across the country and reiterated its advice to the public not to believe in rumours. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said excise duty on petrol and diesel has been reduced by 10 rupees per litre to support consumers. Export duty has also been imposed on aviation turbine fuel to ensure domestic availability.
The ministry said domestic LPG supply remains normal, with over 55 lakh cylinders delivered daily. It said that commercial LPG supply has reached about 70 per cent of pre-crisis levels. Natural gas is being prioritised for households and transport, while PNG connections are being expanded rapidly. The ministry informed that, in March alone, more than 2.9 lakh new connections, including domestic and commercial, have been gasified.
The ministry stated and added that gas supply to urea plants is now steady at around 70 to 75 per cent of their average consumption over the past six months. Additional LNG and RLNG supplies are being sourced to maintain supply levels.
The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways said all Indian seafarers in the region are safe, with no incidents reported in the past 24 hours. It stated that 18 Indian vessels continue to operate safely in the Gulf, and over 900 seafarers have returned home. Two LPG carriers carrying about 94 thousand metric tonnes of cargo have also safely transited the region and are heading towards India.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs said over 5 lakh 24 thousand people have returned to India since the 28th of February. The mortal remains of an Indian national who passed away in Abu Dhabi on the 27th of March have been repatriated.
The ministry added that an Indian national injured in an attack in Salalah, Oman, is receiving medical treatment. It said the Indian Mission is providing necessary assistance and coordinating with local authorities and are assisting students, workers, and stranded travellers with visas, travel, and emergency needs.
