AMN / New Delhi

President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, today graced the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of the Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC) India in New Delhi, calling on the council and all stakeholders to work with determination to make India a global hub of trade, knowledge, and innovation.

Addressing the gathering, the President recalled India’s historic role as a world leader in both spirituality and commerce. She emphasized that regaining this stature should be a collective resolution of every citizen, and particularly of institutions such as EEPC, which play a vital role in the country’s economic growth.

Highlighting India’s remarkable progress in engineering exports, President Murmu noted that the sector’s export volume had risen from 70 billion dollars to over 115 billion dollars in the last decade, despite global challenges and disruptions in international trade. She lauded EEPC for serving as a bridge between Indian producers and the global market, and for contributing significantly to this achievement.

The President underlined that with major shifts occurring in the World Trade Order and the International Economic Order, EEPC’s role in strengthening India’s presence in the Global Value Chain has become even more critical. She urged the council to seize new opportunities in global trade by leveraging the exceptional capabilities and talent available in the country.

Reflecting on the seven decades of transformation in India’s export destinations, the President encouraged EEPC to continue adapting to emerging global realities with the spirit of “Nation First.” She emphasized that high-quality engineering products and services at competitive costs are India’s strength, further reinforced by the presence of Global Capability Centres of leading multinational corporations in the country.

Calling for a forward-looking vision, President Murmu urged EEPC to foster an ecosystem that positions India as a Global Innovation Centre. She explained that in global economic discourse, innovation-driven economies are considered the most competitive and prosperous. To achieve this, she said, stakeholders must create an enabling environment that allows Indian talent and entrepreneurial energy to flourish.

Concluding her address, the President appealed to EEPC and its members to pledge themselves to the goal of making India not only an export powerhouse but also a leading innovation economy, capable of driving global trade and prosperity in the decades ahead.
