Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese today said the ties between India and Australia continue to deepen through culture, education, cricket and trade and that he looks forward to hosting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the near future. In his address at the Australian Parliament, Mr. Albanese highlighted India’s economic growth and emphasised that the trade relationship between the two nations has been further enhanced by the Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA). He said, ‘India has the largest population in the world, but it will also grow to be the third largest economy in the world over this decade. Mr. Albanese recalled that one of his great honours has been his two visits so far to India as Prime Minister. He lauded the Indian community’s contribution to Australian society and how they have strengthened ties between the two nations. He expressed the Australian government’s commitment to supporting Indians and their interests.
