Union Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav has underlined the need for a coordinated and sustained approach by all agencies to address the recurring problem of air pollution in the Delhi-NCR region. Chairing a high-level review meeting in the capital today, Mr. Yadav urged industries, government bodies, and citizens to work in unison to mitigate pollution.
The Minister emphasised that the fight against air pollution cannot succeed without the active participation of industries and the behavioural change of stakeholders. He said industries, citizens, and agencies must gradually adopt practices that reduce emissions and promote sustainability.
During the meeting, a detailed review was conducted on several critical interventions, including:
- Installation and real-time monitoring of Online Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (OCEMS).
- Wider use of Air Pollution Control Devices in industries.
- Implementation of an Integrated Waste Management Plan to ensure efficient collection and disposal of waste.
- Preparedness to manage the potential spike in stubble burning during the upcoming harvest season.
The review meeting witnessed participation from the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), as well as senior officials from the governments of Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and other concerned agencies.
Mr. Yadav reiterated that reducing air pollution requires long-term commitment, collaborative planning, and public engagement, stressing that each sector must play its role responsibly to ensure cleaner air for the region’s residents.
