Union Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal has said that India is committed to protecting its citizens against illegal and counterfeit trade.
He was addressing the inaugural session of the 11th edition of Movement Against Smuggled and Counterfeit Trade (MASCRADE) in New Delhi. Mr Meghwal said that the recent GST reforms have brought significant relief to all stakeholders.
The theme of the event organised by FICCI was Growing Illicit Trade: Destabilising Economic Welfare. On the occasion, former Secretary of the Ministry of Law and Justice P K Malhotra said that illicit trade disrupts progress, escalates cost and distances from our shared development objectives.
He said that as the nation aspires to become a thirty trillion dollar economy by 2047, illicit trade poses a barrier to this transformative growth.
