India has set an ambitious goal of achieving USD 500 billion in electronics manufacturing output by 2030, underscoring its emergence as a global powerhouse in technology production and exports.

The target was reiterated by Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Mr Piyush Goyal at the 4th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Mobile and Electronic Devices Export Promotion Council (MEDEPC), held at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi. Senior officials from the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, DGFT, and major players in India’s electronics and mobile manufacturing ecosystem were present at the event.

Goyal emphasized that India’s transformation into a reliable global hub for electronics design, manufacturing, and exports is being powered by visionary policy initiatives, record investments, and expanding global partnerships. He stressed the need to deepen domestic manufacturing capabilities across the value chain — from components to finished products — to achieve self-reliance and sustain export momentum.

During April–September 2025, India’s electronics exports grew by 41.9%, reaching USD 22.2 billion, compared to USD 15.6 billion during the same period last year. Smartphone exports rose 58% to USD 13.38 billion, helping India become the world’s third-largest smartphone exporter. In FY 2024–25, total electronics exports stood at USD 38.6 billion, up 32.6% year-on-year.

The government’s focus on customs automation, single-window clearances, and export facilitation cells has simplified trade operations. Schemes such as PLI and Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS) are driving localization of key parts like batteries, chargers, camera modules, and displays.

With ongoing FTA negotiations with the EU, UK, and EFTA, and a strong policy roadmap, India aims to achieve its USD 500 billion electronics manufacturing goal by 2030, transforming into a trusted, sustainable, and innovation-led global hub.
