Ten Indian Army personnel were killed and an equal number injured when their vehicle slipped off the road in the Khanni Top area of Bhaderwah in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on Thursday, officials said.

According to the Army’s Nagrota-based White Knight Corps, the Army vehicle was carrying troops for an operational duty when it slipped off the road while navigating treacherous terrain amid adverse weather conditions. The incident resulted in multiple casualties, including fatalities, while the injured personnel were evacuated for further treatment.

Soon after the mishap, Army personnel and teams from the local administration rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations despite the difficult terrain and inclement weather. The injured soldiers were provided first aid at the site and later airlifted to Udhampur for specialised medical treatment.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed deep grief over the loss of lives and conveyed condolences to the bereaved families.

In a statement posted on X, the Lieutenant Governor said the nation stands united with the families of the deceased soldiers and paid tribute to their service and sacrifice. He said senior officials have been directed to ensure the best possible medical care for the injured personnel and prayed for their speedy recovery.

Authorities said rescue and evacuation operations were carried out under challenging conditions, and efforts were being made to provide medical assistance and support to the affected personnel and their families.
