Staff Reporter / New Delhi

The second India-Arab Foreign Ministers’ Meeting will be held in New Delhi on Saturday. The meeting will be co-chaired by India and the UAE, with participation from the Foreign Ministers of Arab League member states and the Secretary General of the Arab League. This will be the first India-Arab FMM hosted by India in New Delhi.

The Foreign Ministers’ meeting is taking place after a gap of 10 years, following the first meeting held in Bahrain in 2016. At the first meeting, the Ministers identified five priority verticals of cooperation—economy, energy, education, media, and culture—and proposed a set of activities across these sectors. The second India-Arab Foreign Ministers’ Meeting is expected to build on existing cooperation, further expanding and deepening the partnership.

Meanwhile, ahead of the second India-Arab Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, the fourth India-Arab Senior Officials’ Meeting is underway in New Delhi. Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, and Foreign Minister of Libya, Eltaher S. M. Elbaour, have arrived in New Delhi ahead of the meeting.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Somalia, Abdisalam Abdi Ali, arrived in New Delhi earlier this morning. Additionally, the Secretary General of the League of Arab States, the Foreign Minister of Palestine, the Foreign Minister of Comoros, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Sudan reached New Delhi yesterday.
