More than two crore 28 lakh artisans have been enrolled under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme so far. Of this, over 13 lakh 94 thousand beneficiaries have been successfully registered, with five lakh 42 thousand 222 women. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha today, Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary said, a total of five lakh three thousand 161 candidates have been provided with basic training across the country, out of which two lakh 74 thousand 703 are female.
The Minister said the maximum number of candidates from Karnataka have been certified under basic skill training. Over one lakh nine thousand candidates have been certified in the state followed by over 81 thousand candidates in Jammu and Kashmir and 79 thousand candidates in Gujarat. The Minister added that a maximum number of over 85 thousand female candidates have been certified in basic skill training in Karnataka followed by Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat. PM Vishwakarma scheme was launched in September last year to provide support to artisans and craftspeople. The scheme covers 18 trades.
