London: Pakistan is set to host the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Egypt for high-level discussions focused on the ongoing conflict involving Iran, officials said on Saturday.
Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has invited his counterparts to Islamabad for consultations scheduled to take place on Sunday and Monday, according to diplomatic sources.
In a statement, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said the meetings will include detailed discussions on regional developments and diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions stemming from the escalating conflict.
“During the visit, the foreign ministers will hold in-depth discussions on a range of issues, including efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region,” the statement said.
The visiting ministers are also expected to call on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during their stay in the capital.
Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty will participate in the consultations alongside his counterparts from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, Egypt’s foreign ministry confirmed.
According to a diplomatic source cited by AFP, the quadrilateral meeting is expected to take place on Monday, with delegations scheduled to arrive in Islamabad by Sunday evening.
Pakistan has increasingly sought to position itself as a diplomatic intermediary between Iran and the United States, drawing on its longstanding ties with Tehran as well as its close strategic relationships with Gulf countries. Observers say the upcoming consultations could play a role in shaping regional diplomatic efforts to contain the crisis.
