Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced the constitution of a high-powered task force on examination reforms, headed by renowned technology expert Nandan Nilekani. In a video message, Mr Modi said the task force will focus on strengthening the examination system, and based on its recommendations, necessary steps will be taken at the earliest to ensure the credibility of future examinations. The Prime Minister said the country’s examination system must be trustworthy, transparent and leverage technology to the maximum extent.
The task force will also consist of Former IB Director Tapan Deka, Former ISRO Chairman S Somnath, IIT Chennai Director V Kamakoti. Besides, Former Education Secretary Anita Karwal, and Logistics Expert Amrit Lal Meena are also part of the task force.
The Prime Minister added that the government is also moving towards introducing a new law in Parliament tomorrow with stringent provisions to deal with examination-related irregularities. Mr Modi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting the integrity of competitive examinations and safeguarding the future of millions of students.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government follows the principle of constant reform to safeguard the future of our new generation. Underlining the newly constituted High-powered task force under the leadership of Nandan Nilekani, Mr Shah said, the task force will ensure that no one can ever breach the sanctity of the country’s examination system. He also said that the government will impose exemplary punishment on the culprits of the paper leak and ensure that no one ever dares to commit this crime.
