Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has underscored tourism as a transformative economic driver, asserting that the state can attract investments worth ₹50,000 crore through the sector alone. Speaking at the Telangana Tourism Conclave in Hyderabad on World Tourism Day, he emphasized that tourism deserves equal focus alongside technology and pharmaceuticals.
The Chief Minister revealed that the state has already received investment proposals totaling ₹15,000 crore since the launch of its Tourism Policy earlier this year. During the conclave, the government formalized several MoUs with prominent national and international investors to advance these proposals.
Tourism Minister J. Krishna Rao announced 30 new projects expected to generate over 50,000 jobs. Of these, 14 will be developed under public-private partnerships with an investment of ₹7,000 crore, while 16 private-sector initiatives will bring in over ₹8,000 crore.
Tourism Secretary Jayesh Ranjan introduced a suite of initiatives to diversify the sector, including:
- ‘Film in Telangana’: A push to attract film productions to the state.
- Medical Tourism Zone: A designated area to promote health-related travel.
- Destination Weddings: Focused promotion of Anantagiri, Nagarjunasagar, and Somasila as wedding hotspots.
- Medical Value Tourism Portal: Designed to streamline patient journeys from inquiry to treatment.
- Telangana Culinary Accelerator: A platform to showcase the state’s rich food heritage.
To bolster safety, a dedicated tourist police task force comprising 90 personnel has been deployed across key destinations.
Telangana’s tourism ambitions are clearly on a fast track—blending culture, commerce, and innovation to position the state as a premier travel and investment hub.
