India’s Equity Benchmark Indices, Sensex and Nifty rose more than half a percent and closed at record highs today. The Sensex advanced 569 points, or 0.72 percent, to close at historic 79,243.
Nifty climbed 176 points, or 0.74 percent, to settle at 24,045. Continued bullish momentum is anticipated, despite potential FII selling amid rising US bond yields.
300 Companies hit their 52 week high, 26 hit their 52 week low in Sensex. In the NSE Nifty, 167 Companies hit their 52 week high, 15 hit their 52 week low.
In the broader market at the BSE, Mid-Cap index rose by 0.17 percent while the Small-cap index declined by 0.57 percent.
In the Sensex index, 24 out of 30 companies registered gains. The top three gainers today were Ultra Cement 5.07 percent, NTPC 3.19 percent and JSW Steel 2.38 percent.
Conversely, the three major laggards were Larsen and Toubro 1.13 percent, Sun Pharma 0.42 percent and Nestle India 0.2 percent.
In Sectoral Indices at the BSE, 15 out of 20 logged gains. The top three gainers were, Power 1.74 percent, Information Technology 1.65 percent and Tech 1.59 percent.
Whereas, Industrials 1.47 percent, Capital Goods 0.07 percent and Consumer Durables 0.06 percent were the three major laggards.
The overall Market breadth was negative. Out of 4008 Companies, the shares of 1510 companies advanced, 2388 declined and 110 remained unchanged.
