President Droupadi Murmu said the Indian Navy will continue to advance indigenous technologies and contribute significantly to the nation’s goal of building a Viksit Bharat. She was addressing the Navy Operational Demonstration in Thiruvananthapuram on the eve of Navy Day.
The President highlighted that the Navy is now capable of designing and constructing complex platforms within the country. The President added that new initiatives under the Sagar vision will strengthen maritime domain awareness, enhance humanitarian assistance capabilities, and ensure security for the international maritime community.
India is giving renewed focus to harnessing the potential of the Blue Economy, and the Navy plays a crucial role in these efforts, the President noted. Smt. Droupadi Murmu also emphasised that the Navy’s responsibilities extend far beyond traditional defence.
The Operational Demonstration showcased the Navy’s strength and combat readiness, featuring an impressive line up of 19 major warships and 32 aircraft, including fighter jets and surveillance helicopters.
