The Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI has registered a case in connection with an alleged paper leak in the conduct of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)-UG 2026. The Agency has registered the case based on a written complaint received from Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education.
The Agency in a statement said that it has registered an FIR regarding the alleged irregularities and paper leak in the conduct of NEET-UG Exam for offences including criminal conspiracy, cheating, criminal breach of trust, theft and destruction of evidence and offences under the Public Examination Prevention of Unfair Means Act 2024.
The Agency stated that special CBI teams have been formed and dispatched to various locations for investigation in the matter. The CBI has taken up the matter for a comprehensive investigation to ascertain the nature and extent of the alleged irregularities, as well as the involvement of individuals and entities connected therewith.
Earlier, addressing a press conference on NEET Exam Cancellation in New Delhi, DG National Testing Agency Abhishek Singh said that the agency will refund the amount of NEET (UG) Examination fees to students. He said, NTA will conduct a re-exam for students and it will be done in a fair manner and no additional fee will be charged for the re-exam. He further stated that if there is even the slightest doubt regarding the integrity of the examination process, the appropriate decision in such a scenario is to cancel the examination.
The NEET- UG 2026 Examination was conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on 3rd of this month.
