Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Indonesia, beginning his high-stakes three-nation Indo-Pacific tour. Upon arrival, Mr Modi was personally received by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the Jakarta airport.
Prime Minister Modi was accorded a grand and enthusiastic welcome from the local Indonesian community and the Indian diaspora, featuring traditional Indian and Indonesian cultural performances.
This is Prime Minister’s fourth visit to Indonesia and his first bilateral visit since the elevation of India-Indonesia ties to the level of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in May 2018.
During the visit, the Prime Minister will hold bilateral discussions with the Indonesian President and review the progress made in the partnership.
The Prime Minister will also travel to the cultural and historic city of Yogyakarta, where he will visit the Prambanan Temple complex. India and Indonesia will be collaborating on the conservation work there. In Jakarta, the Prime Minister will address a large gathering of the Indian Diaspora.
On the second leg of the visit, Mr Modi will travel to Australia from 8th to 10th of this month. Mr Modi will reach Melbourne, where he will participate in the third India-Australia Annual Summit with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
The conversations between two leaders will cover emerging areas of the bilateral relations, in particular the critical minerals, the cybersecurity domain, supply chain resilience, emerging technologies, and others.
During his visit, the Prime Minister will also participate in the India-Australia CEOs Forum, where he will address a gathering of top business leaders from both countries.
Prime Minister will also address a large gathering of the Indian Diaspora, who constitute a strong pillar of the India-Australia relationship.
On the third and last leg of his three-nation visit, Mr Modi will travel to New Zealand from 10th to 11th July. Prime Minister Modi will hold talks with his New Zealand counterpart, Christopher Luxon.
Both leaders will review the entire gamut of the bilateral relationship, which has seen significant progress in the last two years, especially in the areas of trade and commerce and defence.
The visit to New Zealand will be the first visit by the Indian Prime Minister in 40 years. Prime Minister Modi will also interact with prominent business and sports personalities.
In a reflection of the strong people-to-people ties that exist between India and New Zealand, the Prime Minister will address a large gathering of the Indian Diaspora during the visit.
