The Ministry of Cooperation has completed five years of its journey with a renewed focus on strengthening India’s cooperative movement.

Marking its fifth Foundation Day with the vision of Sahakar Se Samriddhi today in New Delhi, the Ministry highlighted major achievements, including the digital transformation of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies, expansion of rural cooperative infrastructure, and new initiatives aimed at boosting dairy, agriculture, banking, and rural livelihoods.

To mark the 5th foundation day, the Ministry today transformed 50 thousand Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) into e-PACS and laid foundation stones for 47 grain storage godowns to strengthen rural storage infrastructure.

A Milk Supply Review Dashboard was also launched for the National Dairy Development Board along with two new digital platforms for Urban Cooperative Banks – Sahakar CBS and Sahakar Sahyogi.

The Ministry was established on 6th of July 2021 to provide rural credit to dairy, fisheries, housing, and marketing cooperatives.

It has implemented more than 152 reform initiatives since its formation. Cooperative institutions have been established in over two lakh fifty-five thousand Gram Panchayats across the country. More than 6 lakh cooperatives are functional among over 8 lakh registered cooperatives.

Meanwhile, the dairy sector is being strengthened under White Revolution 2.0 with a focus on increasing milk procurement by 50 per cent by 2028-29.

The Ministry also highlighted the growth of Bharat Taxi, India’s first cooperative-based mobility platform, which now has over six lakh registered drivers and nearly thirty-six lakh customers.

These reforms have strengthened grassroots institutions, improved digital access, expanded rural infrastructure, and created new opportunities for farmers, women, and cooperative members.
