Seeking to accelerate India-European Union economic cooperation, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal met senior executives of leading European companies in Brussels to discuss trade expansion, technology collaboration and investment opportunities. The engagements, held alongside the India-EU Trade and Technology Council (TTC) Ministerial, reflect India’s push to strengthen industrial partnerships and enhance market access for Indian businesses in Europe.
On July 14, Goyal met Alain Queverin, CEO of Thales Belgium, to discuss strengthening industrial cooperation and exploring opportunities for technology partnerships. He also held talks with Jean Christophe Bogaert, Managing Director of Silox Group, focusing on expanding bilateral trade and enhancing industrial collaboration.
The meetings marked the beginning of the Minister’s industry outreach in Brussels, providing a platform for engagement with leading European businesses and laying the foundation for further collaboration.
On July 15, Goyal, along with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada, participated in a Business Roundtable hosted by the Federation of Enterprises in Belgium (FEB).
The roundtable brought together leading Indian and European industry representatives to discuss trade facilitation, investment flows, resilient supply chains and digital innovation.
Later, the Commerce Minister interacted with members of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) delegation at Hotel Steigenberger. Representatives of Indian industry shared their views on improving competitiveness, addressing regulatory challenges and leveraging opportunities under the TTC framework.
Goyal reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting Indian businesses in expanding market access and fostering innovation-driven partnerships.
The minister’s engagements in Brussels highlighted India’s focus on industry-led growth and underscored the role of businesses in advancing India-EU economic cooperation. The interactions reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to strengthening industrial partnerships, promoting innovation, facilitating greater market access and creating new opportunities for Indian enterprises in Europe.
