Both the Houses of Parliament adjourned for the day. Rajya Sabha has been adjourned till tomorrow after completing its scheduled business, while the Lok Sabha has been adjourned following opposition uproar over various issues, including the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in several States and Union Territories.
When the Lok Sabha assembled at 2 PM after the second adjournment, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman moved the Manipur Goods and Services Tax (Second Amendment) Bill, 2025 for consideration and passing. The Bill aims to amend the Manipur Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017. Amidst the opposition ruckus, the bill was passed with voice vote.
In the Rajya Sabha Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented a Supplementary Demand for Grants for 2025-26 . The House also congratulated the Indian Women Cricket Team for winning the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, the Indian team for winning the Women’s T20 Cricket Blind World Cup and Women Kabaddi team for winning the World Cup 2025. The House also witnessed heated exchange of words over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in various States and Union Territories.
Earlier, welcoming Rajya Sabha Chairman CP Radhakrishnan on the first day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, Mr Radhakrishnan’s rise from an ordinary background to the Vice Presidency reflects the true strength of the country’s democracy. He said Mr Radhakrishnan fought like a true defender of democracy during the emergency and that fight was very courageous. Mr Modi said, under his guidance, the House will discuss and take important decisions to pave the way forward.
