New Delhi: Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi is scheduled to arrive in New Delhi on Tuesday evening for a three-day official visit to India to participate in the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit, marking her first visit to the country since assuming office.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the summit will provide an opportunity for India and Japan to review the entire spectrum of their bilateral relationship, assess progress on ongoing initiatives and explore new avenues of cooperation. The two sides are also expected to exchange views on key regional and global developments of mutual interest.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Takaichi will be accorded a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan before holding delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The discussions are expected to focus on strengthening the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership, with particular emphasis on trade and investment, supply chain resilience, infrastructure development, defence and security cooperation, clean energy, digital technologies and emerging technologies.

Following the summit talks, both leaders are expected to witness the exchange of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and address a joint press conference outlining the outcomes of the meeting.

Prime Minister Takaichi will also participate in the India-Japan Business Forum in New Delhi, where government representatives and industry leaders from both countries are expected to discuss opportunities for expanding bilateral trade, investment and industrial collaboration.

The visit comes nearly a year after Prime Minister Modi travelled to Tokyo for the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit and underscores the commitment of both countries to further deepen their strategic, economic and technological partnership amid evolving regional and global geopolitical dynamics.
