Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday held a telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, during which the two leaders discussed the latest developments in West Asia following recent regional tensions.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, President Pezeshkian briefed Modi on the evolving situation in the region and outlined the way forward after the recent understanding reached among the parties involved.
Prime Minister Modi welcomed the understanding and reiterated India’s consistent position that all disputes should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy. He also stressed the importance of sustained efforts to achieve lasting peace and stability in West Asia.
The Prime Minister further underlined the need to safeguard freedom of navigation and ensure the uninterrupted flow of international commerce, reaffirming India’s support for peace, stability and regional security.
