On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day today (June 14), Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda has urged citizens to come forward and voluntarily donate blood, emphasizing its vital role in saving lives.
In a social media post, Mr. Nadda highlighted that blood donation is one of the simplest yet most effective ways to grant someone a second chance at life. He stressed the urgent need to raise awareness, dispel common myths surrounding blood donation, and encourage widespread public participation in the noble cause.
Focusing on this year’s theme, “One Drop of Humanity. Give Blood. Save Lives,” the Health Minister noted that every individual donor holds the power to make a life-changing difference, as a single donation can offer immense hope and support to patients requiring transfusions. He called on citizens to unite in this effort to help build a healthier, more caring, and compassionate society.
World Blood Donor Day is celebrated globally every year on June 14th. Its purpose is to raise awareness about the critical need for safe blood and blood products, while also honoring and thanking voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their invaluable, life-saving contributions.
