US Vice President JD Vance has warned Iran that any future aggression would be met with force, hours after the United States carried out military strikes on Iranian targets. In a post on X, Vance said Iran had signed a ceasefire agreement and that the United States had honoured it.

He added that any disputes over the agreement should be resolved through dialogue, but warned that violence would receive a military response. The US Central Command, CENTCOM, said American forces targeted Iranian missile and drone storage sites, along with coastal radar installations. It said the strikes were carried out in response to what it described as an Iranian drone attack on a commercial cargo vessel travelling through the Strait of Hormuz. CENTCOM said the attack on the vessel violated the ceasefire agreement.

It added that US forces would remain in the region to ensure the agreement is fully observed. The cargo ship was reportedly attacked near the Gulf of Oman, raising fresh concerns over security in one of the world’s busiest energy and shipping routes.
