India has crossed the one billion mark in Social Protection Coverage. In a social media post, Union Labour and Employment Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, India’s social protection coverage has expanded from 19 per cent in 2015 to 68.4 per cent in 2026, bringing more than one hundred crore citizens under the umbrella of social protection framework. He said this reflects the Modi government’s commitment to Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas.
India’s social protection system has expanded significantly through various welfare programmes aimed at providing financial security, healthcare, and food assistance to millions. These initiatives have played a crucial role in improving livelihoods and reducing poverty across the country. India’s strides in expanding social protection reflect a strong commitment to inclusive welfare and economic security.
